Abstract

Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is a promising power generation device, so it is very meaningful to assess the health state of the PEMFC in application. This paper proposes a method to evaluate the PEMFC health state based on a geometrical approach and Mahalanobis Distance (MD). Firstly, geometry features are extracted from electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and polarization curve. Secondly, Mahalanobis Distance between features of the current working condition and that of initial working condition is calculated. Lastly, the distance is normalized to realize the PEMFC health assessment. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
