Abstract

A technique to optimize the excitation current amplitude of a quadrilateral planar array is proposed to yield lower peak sidelobe level (PSL). Two kinds of array arrangement, linear array and planar array, are implemented and optimized based on genetic algorithms. Simulation results show that the arrangement of linear array with divided scanning sub-regions can obtain lower PSL and achieve better scanning characteristics.
