Abstract

Based on the structural characteristics of vibration cutting holder and its basic equation of dynamic problem, the parametric finite element dynamic model for the symmetrical three-step vibration holder is given. The 3D curves displaying the variations of the resonance frequency and nodal pitch with the tool holder sizes are drawn by the computer based on the redevelopment of the software ANSYS by using ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL), and the parametric finite element method design of the symmetrical three-step flexural vibration holder is achieved. The calculating error of resonance frequency and nodal pitch with the present method are 2.5% and 3.5% respectively, and with the analytic method the corresponding calculating errors are 3% and 5% respectively in the same size range of the holder, it demonstrates that the present method can show better agreement with the experimental results, and it is a more convenient and accurate method for designing flexural vibration holder.
