Abstract
Design and parameter optimization of a Darrieus type vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) are presented. Model of Multiple Streamtubes is adopted in this procedure. After programming, the result of design code is compared with available experiment data. Good estimation can be acquired by this method. Some conclusions have been drawn from parameter optimization. First, power coefficient Cp decreases with increasing the height and aspect ratio of Darrieus type VAWT; maximum efficiency position drift to low velocity ration region as increasing blade solidity, and maximum efficiency decreases, vice versa; maximum efficiency position drifts to large velocity ration region as increasing diameter, and maximum efficiency grows up, vice versa. Diameter exerts the most important influence on aerodynamic performance of Darrieus type VAWT.
