P2P-based mechanism for personal resources distribution and access in information grid

Abstract

UDMGrid (university digital museum grid) is a typical information grid. It has accomplished integration and sharing of resources derived from 13 university digital museums in 8 different cities. But it is unable to integrate various personal resources on the Internet. P2P technology indicated the means to integrate personal resources. Therefore, this paper analyzed characteristics of P2P and personal resources, made researches on mechanism for personal resources integration in grid environment to enable information grid to integrate personal resources, and then presented a P2Pbased mechanism for personal resources distribution and access in grid environment. This mechanism first utilizes a web-based method to distribute personal resources and makes use of existing resource integration mechanisms in information grid technology to register personal resources. Then, it uses P2P overlay to break the network limitation to the access of personal resources. Finally, the experimental results demonstrate the work of this paper, and show that this mechanism is correct on personal resources distribution and access, especially in UDMGrid.
