Abstract

The growth law and theory of thermally grown oxide (TGO) layer in air plasma sprayed (APS) thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) were studied by experimental method. Four experiment temperatures were adopted to induce the oxidation of TBCs. The curves and parameters in oxidation equation were obtained under four temperatures respectively. It can be seen that the uniform oxidation equation can be served as the computation of oxidation growth perfectly, and the value of state parameter in oxidation equation is connected with the oxidation temperature. Using the equation between the state parameter and oxidation temperature, the lower limit of oxidation temperature can be convenient obtained.
