Abstract

Oscillation or other unstable cases would occur when direct driven wind farm (DDWF) was integrated into a weak AC grid, and serious accident would be caused, such as inverter separated from the grid, thermal power trip etc. Based on application of certain DDWF in Xinjiang Province, theoretical impedance models of direct driven permanent magnet synchronous generator (D-DPMSG) were established with impedance method, and a D-DPMSG Simulink model was built on MATLAB platform and its impedance was used to verify theoretical impedance model. Then the DDWF was built on the platform of real time laboratory, considering real time simulation modeling rules by the D-DPMSG Simulink model, and the frame and parameters of wind farm. The oscillation was reproduced after weak AC power grid was imitated by connecting a inductor between the wind farm and the AC grid based on concept of short-circuit ratio. This method provides a new idea for further solving the DDWF oscillation problem.
