Optimized method of petri net modeling and simulation for production systems

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In order to support the reengineering of production systems, basic Petri Nets were extended from five aspects, which include colored extension, timed extension, hierarchical extension, workflow variable extension and logic transition extension. These extensions enable Petri Nets to describe the core attributes of activities of production systems, and the functions of production systems can be studied from the perspectives of activity level and process flow structure. Furthermore, an optimized colored Petri Net was proposed, and an optimized modeling and simulation method related to production systems was put forward. This method can decompose a practical system to a model with multi-hierarchy, and thus the practical system can be studied from fragments to reduce the complexity which may be brought by studying the whole system. This method can also reconfigure production systems by adjusting and improving the modules, and therefore reengineer production systems agilely and flexibly.
