Abstract

Combat readiness (availability) is one of the core technical indicators of aircraft combat capability for successful combat missions, which is dominated by the maintenance schedule management. Therefore, aimed at improving the combat readiness, this paper develops a two-stage approach to formulate the system group maintenance schedule. First, maintenance policy is optimized for each component based on its failure characteristics, where Markov process is employed to develop the availability model. Second, the system group maintenance policy is optimized on the basis of the component policy, where group maintenance is utilized to share maintenance downtime. The results of the numerical study show that, compared with the traditional post maintenance and scheduled maintenance, the proposed approach can effectively improve the combat readiness of the aircraft within the precise.
