Abstract

In this paper, the problems of the external logistics system design of the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone are studied. Firstly, the external logistics network is designed. The network includes the main road, railway and logistics node (e.g. sea port, container freight station, railway freight station and dry port etc.) in the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone. Secondly, models for dry port and intermodal terminal locations are developed. Using the OD of export and import container cargo, the optimal dry port and intermodal terminals location is obtained. Finally, measures or policies to improve the efficiency of external logistics system of Taiwan Straits Economic Zone are provided.
