Abstract
Design of spaceborne SAR parameters is a critical factor in determining the performance of SAR system. SAR parameter design should not only meet the requirements of performance metrics like resolution and ambiguity ratio, but also facilitates the extraction of information from SAR images. Existing parameter design methods are selecting parameters that satisfy performance metrics requirements, but little attention has been paid to subsequent information extraction. This paper proposes a mutual information-based spaceborne SAR parameter optimization design method. The performance metrics are considered as constraints for the optimization problem and the parameters are optimized to maximize the mutual information between target and SAR image. The optimized parameters are obtained by Differential Evolution algorithm. Finally, the effectiveness of the optimization method is verified by simulation.
