Abstract

An analysis on a model of active suspension was presented and the linear quadratic optimal controller was designed based on the optimal control theory by which the optimal force was gained. A stiffness-damping system was added to the passive suspension system. According to the criteria that the force arising from the passive suspension with the added stiffness-damping system should be close to the optimal control force arising from the active suspension, the parameters of the passive suspension was optimized by the least square algorithm. The results of a comparison between the above algorithm and the traditional optimization one showed the method for the parameters optimization of suspension combined with the optimal control theory and the least square algorithm was effective and made the suspension system have better dynamic characteristics.
