title = "Optimal availability improvement for digital switching systems",
abstract = "The demand of optimal availability improvement for digital switching system emerges as the communication technology develops rapidly. Due to its networked structure and multiple down states, the availability is calculated based on network reliability algebraic methods and Markov model. An optimal availability improvement model is proposed which aims at finding the optimal availability-related parameters of components that minimizing the cost subject to the constraints of system availability goal and parameter bounds caused by technological limitations. To solve the high-dimensional nonlinear programming problem, both generalized reduced gradient method and genetic algorithm are applied. Finally, a signaling system number 7 (SS7) is used to verify the effectiveness of our optimization model and algorithms.",
