Abstract
A new type of gradient-index (GRIN) metamaterial (MTM), composed of a dielectric post array (DPA), is proposed for millimeter-wave applications to achieve wideband, low-reflection characteristics, and low sensitivity to the polarization of the incident wave. The design concept is different from that followed in GRIN, in which a systemic phase-shifting (PS) strategy is used for flat lens synthesis. The performance of the proposed lens has been numerically examined, and its focusing property has been investigated. The behavior of refraction index of the lens material has also been retrieved to see how it is compared with that of GRIN design.
