On the phase-noise due to modulating in the fiber-optic gyroscope

Abstract

The phase delay stability of PZT fiber optic modulator and the noise caused by it in the open-loop fiber optic gyroscope were analyzed, and by changing the environmental temperature, this kind of noise was experimentally studied. The results show that the phase delay instability of PZT fiber optic modulator is one of the main noise sources, and by using the open-loop as well as the compensation, significant improvement can be obtained.
