OD travel time estimation model based on floating car data at intersection in metropolis

Abstract

Understanding the real-time traffic information concerning the best routes from commuters' location to their destination is a requirement in most citizens' daily lives. While the intersection in arterial road is the key part of the road network and providing time-dependent delay information for arterial intersections seems more desirable. Although efficient algorithmic based on Floating Car Data (FCD) exist, an accurate and reliable method to estimate OD matrix at the intersection is missing. A novel OD estimation method is proposed to overcome the drawbacks of the complex connection of links and increasing the uncertain in data caused by low sampling rate GPS points. Experiments on observation analysis, schedule route analysis and comparing analysis indicate that the new method is both reasonable and practical.
