Abstract

CuAl14Ni4,2 (wt%) is a shape memory alloy which at temperatures above 60°C assumes the austenitic phase, while below 20°C it forms martensitic twins. In a single crystal these phase transitions can be observed particularly well and this paper illustrates the phenomenon by some colorful photographs.
