Abstract

High-spin states in doubly odd 170Re have been populated and investigated using 142Nd(32S, 1p3nγ) 170Re reaction at 166 MeV bombarding energy. One rotational band in 170Re has been identified for the first time in the present study. The band has been assigned to be built on the πh11/2 ⊗ νi13/2 configuration according to their quasiparticle alignment, signature splitting, level spacing systematics, as well as the existing knowledge in neighboring nuclei. The result extends the high-spin studies of A=170 odd-odd nuclei to the currently lightest rhenium isotope.
