Abstract
In order to investigate the flow and heat transfer performances in a direct transfer pre-swirl system, a numerical study was conducted by using CFD commercial software FLUENT with dimensional model and turbulence model respectively. Through the comparison, the following conclusions can be drawn: flow of the lower cavity is determined by the central inflow, and the two-dimensional computation does not reflect mixing of the central inflow and pre-swirl inflow in the higher cavity. Pressure distribution of the two- and three-dimensional computation is similar, and the measurements are within the two results; the heat transfer of the main disk is determined by the central inflow, the two- and three-dimensional computation is almost identical, and heat transfer results of Realizable k-ε turbulence model are mainly good with the measurements qualitatively and quantitatively.
