Abstract
A numerical method with moving chimera grids is developed to simulate the unsteady flow around a helicopter rotor in forward flight by Navier-Stokes equations, and the numerical results agree with the experiments. The flow fields around one-bladed rotor and two-bladed rotor in forward flight are respectively simulated in two kinds of attack angle. The aerodynamic performance and interaction are compared and analyzed. Some valuable phenomena and conclusions are pertinent to the engineering practice.
