Abstract

The separated flow fields around a WIG (Wing In Ground) craft flying over wavy ground at high angle of attack are simulated numerically, in order to investigate the effect of flight height and wave on its aerodynamics. The Farve-averaged NS equations of unsteady compressible flow and the standard k-ε turbulence model are solved by Fluent software. Sliding meshes are applied to treat the relative motion between the WIG craft and wavy ground. When the flight height decreases, the attached flow on top surfaces of the WIG craft's wings becomes separated flow. The mean values of aerodynamic forces over wavy ground and aerodynamic forces over level ground vary with the flight height in similar pattern.
