Abstract

The complex flow around the circular cylinder rods of a semiconductor lightning current duration extender (SLE) is simulated numerically to investigate the effect of wind angles on the wind loads of the rods. The steady incompressible RANS equations and the standard k-epsilon turbulent model are solved utilizing FLUENT software. The coefficients of the aerodynamic forces of the rods at different wind angles, the pressure distributions of the longitudinal sections and the cross sections of the rods at wind angle β=0°, and the streamline distributions and the pressure distributions of the flow field sections at different wind angles are presented in detail.
