Abstract

Based on the same stress and strain state between stamping edge tensile and simple tensile test, a modified simple tensile test was proposed to research on effect of sheared burr on deformation capacity of high strength steel stamping edge. The test shows that the trend of the deformation capacity of stamping edge is decreasing with an increase of burr height. It is easily explained the reason why splitting on stamping edge appearing before deformation reaches its normal deformation capacity. The numerical analysis approach for split on stamping edge was proposed to solve the problem of the traditional method failing to predict edge fracture accurately. Furthermore, the special numerical analysis software was researched and developed. It is confirmed that the numerical analysis approach is both feasible and effective by analyzing on automobile exhaust pipe support flanging process.
