Abstract
A smart and cost-effective microcontroller for real-time flight simulation system, based on micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology, is designed, prototyped and experimentally tested in the paper. Firstly, the hardware and software of the microcontroller were developed for implementing the attitude motion control, data acquisition, control-law calculation and communication. The idea of modularization was adopted in the development of software, which could reduce the software complexity of this real-time flight simulation system greatly. Then, the detailed flowchart of software was also given. Finally, two experiments were conducted both in static and dynamic requirements, and the experimental results demonstrated that the MEMS technology-based microcontroller was feasible and suitable for real-time flight simulation system, where critical accuracy and real-time requirements were needed.
