Novel three-phase multi-stage magnetically controlled reactor for harmonic suppression

Abstract

In order to reduce the harmonic generated by magnetically controlled reactor, a novel structure named multi-stage MCR was proposed. A magnetic circuit equivalent model of the multi-stage MCR was set up. The mechanism of self-harmonic suppression was analyzed. The calculation result shows that the proposed multi-stage MCR greatly reduce the generated harmonics without the assistance of external additional LC filters, reducing the five-order harmonic current from 6% to 3% in the case of half-rated-saturation.
