Abstract

Nonlinear dynamics of a spur gear pair is researched based on Incremental Harmonic Balance Method (IHBM), where the time-varying stiffness and backlash are included. The general forms of periodic solutions are established. Then the bifurcation of the system is investigated by IHBM, and the effects of damping ratio and magnitude of excitation on the response are also analyzed. Based on the results the solution with arbitrary accuracy could be obtained easily, which is useful to analyze and/or control the dynamic behaviors of gear system. At last some problems ignored in other references are pointed out.
