Abstract

In order to deal with the problem of the demodulation of continuous phase modulation (CPM) signals in some special cases, the performance and implementability of non-coherent Viterbi algorithm based on multi-symbol differential correlation was investigated. Taking a CPM signal with high-order-ary and smaller modulation exponent, for example, the Matlab simulation verified the theoretic analysis. Using the multi-symbol differential in CPM non-coherent demodulation, it can decrease the complexity and accelerate the demodulate speed with the least performance loss. Besides that, the method can be implemented in most of hardware platforms using software wireless radio. The algorithm has both theoretical and practical values.
