abstract = "To overcome the defects of the present permanent magnet biased radial magnetic bearing, a new type permanent magnet biased radial magnetic bearing in magnetic suspending reaction flywheel application is reported. The fundamental principle of the radial magnetic bearing is presented. And the radial magnetic bearing is analyzed and calculated by using equivalent magnetic circuit and finite element method (FEM). As a matter of fact, the flux of permanent magnet and electromagnetic occur in any radial plane, so the axial length of the radial magnetic bearing will be lessened. Therefore, the presented radial magnetic bearing has smaller volume compared to the existing structure. It is much suitable for magnetic suspending reaction flywheel.",
