Abstract

With the quality and lifetime expectance rising, biomaterials are growing quickly in biomedical engineering field. Thus, in order to increase academic and attention to biomaterials, it is developed a three credit for biomaterials course, Biomaterials, in the School of Biological Science and Medical Engineering at Beihang University ( BUAA ), and taught in Fall 2010. The lectures focus on basic biomaterials, characterization, biocompatibility, as well as commercial and clinical applications. During the lectures, the engineering students are expected to gain an understanding of biomaterials concepts and their properties. Meanwhile, biomaterials course is multidisciplinary which help students ripe with opportunities, compassion and intellectual ideas.
