Abstract
In this paper, we present an analytical method based on the SMP (Semi-Markov Process) model to evaluate the Performability (Performance Reliability) of the dedicated short range communication network (DSRC Network) between vehicles due to the MAC layer protocol based on the IEEE802.11 standards, and then applied fixed-point iterative algorithm to calculate the Network Performability. We select the transmission delay, packet delivery ratio (PDR) as the network parameters. We also proposed a simulation procedure to verify the accuracy of the analytical model through a large number of simulation experiments. The results show that: with the increasing density of the vehicle, transmission delay substantially no increase, packet delivery ratio decrease a bit; the analytical results coincide with the simulation results. Thus: DSRC network performability is in a good shape; the given analytical model and method can be used for the evaluation of the DSRC network performability more accurately and easily.
