N2 - This paper presents an efficient method to calculate the near field distribution of an planar antenna array. This method brings a great benefit to reducing computation complexity in near field optimization. The aperture field distribution formula is introduced to optimize the excitation amplitude and phase of the plane wave generator (PWG). Numerical examples, showing the design results and non-ideality factors effect of the PWG system in practical engineering applications, are discussed.
