Abstract
Multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) is a subject developing rapidly since the last decade, which can efficiently solve the design problem of large-scale complex engineering system. MDO methods are the significant development of traditional design methods and design optimization theories. We are addressing ourselves to the development of the theories and applications of MDO. Some achievements of MDO methods are gained. Based on these achievements, an introduction of MDO methods for large-scale engineering systems is presented in this paper. Especially, MDF method, AAO method, IDF method, CO method, CSSO method and BLISS method are analyzed in this paper. The advantages and disadvantages of each MDO method are summarized, which should be considered in large-scale industrial applications.
