Abstract

Simulation is a main method in research of network reliability. Discrete event model can be used to simulate network information transmission activities and to evaluate the network transmission time reliability. Process Interaction (PI) model, one of main discrete event simulation strategies, can be regarded as a network system with a series of stochastic processes which describe the network activities occurring at random points of time. In this paper we use the PI simulation method to analyze the network transmission time reliability with the consideration of multi-state nodes. In order to study how node states affect transmission time, it is necessary to build network nodes state model to describe network degradation process through a set of states. Then we propose simulation models of network transmission time based on PI method. The detailed design of network information transmission processes is discussed. The simulation algorithm about how to impel the simulation clock is illustrated based on PI method. Meanwhile the simulation models of network structure and routing information are also described in this paper. At last, a simulation case is given to verify the correctness of the network transmission time reliability simulation method proposed in the paper.
