Abstract
Hit-or-miss transform is one very important operation in mathematical morphology. In this paper, a dual hit-or-miss transform is proposed through changing the calculation rule of the Soill's unconstrained hit-or-miss transform. By using both the hit-or-miss transform and dual hit-or-miss transform, more image features could be extracted, which would improve the performance of hit-or-miss transform in different applications. Multi-scale extension of bom the hit-or-miss transform and dual hit-or-miss transform using multi-scale structuring elements with increasing sizes are also discussed. More importantly, the dual hit-or-miss transform and multi-scale operations could be efficiently used in different applications.
