Abstract
The usage of power electronic devices in ship power grids will produce a large number of harmonics in the input circuit of converters. To reduce the harmonic pollution, the input current harmonics of six-pulse, twelve-pulse and twenty-four-pulse rectifiers were analyzed. The net side current harmonics were separately simulated when ship electric propulsion system in different operating modes. The results verify that multi-phase rectifier technology is an effective way to suppress harmonics. The phases of rectifier are more, the harmonic content of inverter into the grids is smaller. Using twenty-four-pulse rectifier in ship electric propulsion system can greatly reduce the harmonic content, and improve the quality of grids effectively.
