Multi-focus image fusion method based on Gabor filter

Abstract

This paper proposes a new method based on Gabor filter for multi-focus image fusion. Gabor filters are used to filter original images in various orientations for extracting energies of high frequency in different orientations. These energies are compared to judge whether the pixel is focused, then the fused image is generated. Computer simulation results illustrate that this method is simple and available. Also the test results are compared with those of other methods such as wavelet transform and direct average fusion.
