Monolayer Wideband Metamaterials Absorber with Cross-resistance Patch

Abstract

In this paper, a monolayer wideband planer metamaterials absorber has been proposed. The absorber's unit cell consists of a cross-resistance patch and a metal square ring. The absorber's performance is based on the strong local electromagnetic resonance effect and the ohmic loss. The absorber unit cell is compact in configuration with a unit size of 20.0 mm×20.0 mm. In the frequency range from 9.1 GHz to 20.3 GHz, the numerical calculation reveals that the absorption at normal incidence is not less than 93.0 % and that its relative absorption bandwidth can reach 76.2 %. These results could provide new insights into the development of wideband absorbers.
