abstract = "For Global Navigation Satellite System Reflectometry (GNSS-R) has become a popular method to detect the geophysical features. This paper focuses on the relationship between scattered signal power distribution and wind speed. Three observables from the reflected signals are extracted and analyzed: peak power (PP), effective area (EA) and the correlation power distribution at different sample dots (PD). Ultimately, a semi-empirical model is established employing PD as the observable. A long-term field campaign was performed to study the relationship between sea-state and wind using the reflected signals from BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) in Weihai, China. The experiment indicated that the wind speed can be estimated using PD with results of MAD (2.58m/s), RMSE (3.2m/s).",
