Abstract

Microburst wind shear, which is a special type of atmospheric phenomena, has been widely investigated for the interference it would bring to the aircraft navigation. In this paper, we construct a three-dimensional microburst model as an extension of the traditional vortex ring theory based model. It is shown that the singular problems at the vortex filament are thoroughly improved considering the new damping factor in our model. We build multiple vortex ring models to match the characteristics of real wind field of the microburst. An application to the flight simulator to obtain the response of the microburst wind field with variable parameter demonstrates the validity of our model. Our results indicate that this new model should provide an important basis for the designing of the flight simulator.
