Abstract

RS105 test in MIL-STD-461 is used to detect the ability of electric equipment and systems to withstand transient electromagnetic pulse (EMP) environment, in which the guided wave EMP simulator (GWES) is used to generate EMP. Field uniformity is crucial to ensure the validity of the test result for equipment under test (EUT). The range of common uniform distributed electric field generated by GWES is small, which has a high restriction on the size of the EUT. In order to facilitate the RS105 test of large size of electronic equipment and systems, a large GWES with overall size of 30m10m5m is simulated in this paper. Through mathematical analysis, the large GWES has good field uniformity in the range of 3m3m, the field uniformity is 1.18dB.
