Abstract

The numerical simulating the 3D internal and external mixed flow fields of adjustable-pitch horizontal-axis wind turbine on conditions of the dynamic parameters was worked out. The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations were used and the Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model with highly numerical stability was chosen. The simulation results were compared with the experimental results of wind tunnel. The cause of load distribution on the blade surface was explored, and the main aerodynamic characters of the wind turbine flow fields were discussed. Finally, the improvements of the turbine performance were pointed out.
