Abstract

The different technologies of heat treatment have been researched in a TbDyFe alloy with [112] preferred orientation. It has been found that the annealing can influence the microstructure and magnetostriction in the TbDyFe alloy. The optimum technology treated at 1100 °C for 2 h have been got. Air cooling and furnace cooling have not obvious effect on the magnetostriction in the TbDyFe alloy. The sphericity of the rare earth and the crystal growth, which can decrease the resistance of the domain rotation, is a basic reason for high-temperature-annealing to improve the magnetostriction in the alloy.
