Abstract

A micro CMOS sun sensor based on field programmable gate array (FPGA) was proposed and designed. The parameter of its optic system was selected reasonably. Centroid estimation of the sun image was acquired with centroid algorithm, and least square equations were used for calibration of the sun sensor. Experiment data shows that the sun sensor has a weight of 250 g, a volume of 80mm × 80mm n× 35mm, and a power consumption of 750 mW. The accuracy of the sun sensor is 0.05° and the maximum field of view is 60°×60°.
