Abstract

To realize the reuse and integration of various multidiscipline structure models effectively in complex product virtual prototyping, taking complex products which were widely existed in modern manufacturing field as objects, multidisciplinary characteristics of virtual prototyping for complex products and challenges exerted on traditional modeling and simulation theory were discussed. Based on the meta object facility and component-oriented modeling, a new Meta Modeling Framework (M2F) of Complex Product Multidiscipline Virtual Prototyping (CPMVP) was proposed. Formal definition and semantics of model specifications in each abstract layer such as meta-meta model, meta model, and high-level model were discussed. In the application example of typical complex product virtual prototype modeling, M2F enabled the higher-level abstraction of those isomerous models in CPMVP and facilitated the unified modeling, reuse and integration of CPMVP. A case study indicated the effectiveness of M2F.
