Abstract

Combining electrical resistance tomography (ERT) with cross-correlation flow measurement technique more information of the flow can be provided than usual. Based on this idea a dual-plane ERT system for use on laboratory- and plant-scale process equipment was developed by the authors. This paper focused on discussion measurement of local gas velocity in a gas/liquid two-phase pipe flow basing on dual plane ERT system signals cross-correlation. Methods to improve the real-time performance of ERT system were discussed in detail. Criteria to select the distance from up-stream plane to downstream and data collection protocol were described. In the meantime the experimental results and analysis were also presented.
