Measurement and calculation research of infrared radiation for solid rocket motor plume

Abstract

The measurement scheme, instruments, analysis and result of infrared radiation from scaled rocket motor plume are introduced in this paper. Also plume flow-field and infrared of non-aluminiferous propellant are calculated. Pressure of combustion chamber, infrared radiation intensity and flow filed of plume are measured in tests, conditions cover two environments where pressure is 90 kPa and 5 kPa, three infrared radiation measurement directions at 60°, 90° and 120° with plume. In this paper, pressure of combustion chamber, the images of plumes, infrared radiation intensities of plume at 2.7μm band 4.3μm band are given. Also the calculated result of plume flow field and infrared radiation are given. The experiment results certify the property of calculation method.
