Magnetic properties of the NixCo1-x/Cu multilayer nanowires

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The NiCo/Cu multilayer nanowires with 100 nm diameter have been fabricated by electrodeposition technique using a template directed method. The magnetic properties depend on the structure and compositions of the nanowires. Changing the chemical ratio between Ni and Co, the easy axis of the NiCo/Cu multilayer nanowires keeps perpendicular to the nanowires. The coercivity of the nanowire increases when increasing the ratio of Co. According to the micromagnetic simulation, when the applied field is parallel to the axis of the nanowire, the magnetization reversal process starts by curling of the ferromagnetic layer and the reversal mechanism occurs by an intermediate mode between coherent and curling reversal modes with the applied field perpendicular to the axis of the nanowire.
