Abstract

Focused on Cyril Bath numerical control (NC) profile 2D stretch-wrap bending machine, the trajectory design of stretching jaws was discussed. A calculation formula related with local curvature of the part as well as friction was proposed to effectively control the axial tensile elongation of profile during bending. Based on the formula, the trajectory design of stretching jaws was realized, which lays a foundation for optimization of trajectory of jaws during stretch wrap bending by finite element simulation. Also the structure of NC code of the machine was studied and the method of converting the jaw trajectory into NC code was provided. Production experiments were also carried out, demonstrating the reliability of the proposed method for jaw trajectory design.
