Abstract

In this paper, the core loss characteristic of a novel bearingless switched reluctance motor is investigated. Firstly, the basic structure and principle of the proposed motor is presented. Furthermore, a core loss model is introduced in which flux density waveforms in the different parts of the motor are predicted by means of finite element analysis. The effect of control system on the core loss is also considered. Thirdly, the improved stein Metz equation is used for core loss calculation. Finally, the influences of the main parameters of the motor iron loss were analyzed.
