Abstract

This paper presents a method of whirl control for micro turbojet engine in order to solve whirl and stability problems of rotor system. This method is validated by experiment. It consists of following steps. Firstly, several parameters such as axial preload or compression of wave spring, stiffness of wave spring, rotating speed, and mass of rotor as well as unbalance mass of rotor are fixed. Then, in the scalar system, accurate calculation for the thickness, number, and form of installation of Coulomb damping gaskets that is required by whirl attenuation is conducted. Finally, outer damping of rotor is adjusted with gaskets and rubber, and damping structure is assembled. It is found that the method results in precise control of whirl amplitude for rotor system and it can achieve stability of micro turbojet engine under the high speed condition.
